World of Afternoon Tea loves visiting museums and historic houses to bring their buildings and collections to life with the history and traditions of previous eras.
Talks can be set against the backdrop of their historic collections or located in their own café. Examples include the ‘Gilded Age’ mansion of Old Westbury Gardens, Long Island, New York, the Bishops’ House in Boise, Idaho, Woburn Abbey in Bedfordshire, Leeds Castle in Kent and Kenwood House in Hampstead, as well as to members of the Historic Houses umbrella association of Great Britain. For private members, sports & leisure clubs, and women’s groups, please see their dedicated pages.
“It was wonderful to have you with us. We all learned so much from you about the beautiful tradition of English tea. It was lovely to meet you and I look forward to another get together in the future!”

“I love afternoon tea and what could be better than having afternoon tea in the very place it was born. I saw the ad for this talk on the internet, and we booked our whole summer holiday around it. We travelled from Leeds to Woburn Abbey and were not disappointed at all. Apart from the food, which was stunning, the talk was so interesting and informative. Even Wayne, a good Northern lad, was mesmerised.”

“Gillian gave an online lecture on the history of Afternoon Tea to Historic Houses members. We could not have been happier by the feedback we’ve had. Her storytelling, presentation slides, and attention to detail made for a fun and fascinating talk, and we’ll certainly be looking to arrange many more events with Gillian in the near future.”
