Looking for something rather different and memorable for your next family and friends celebration? How about planning a delicious afternoon tea in your home or at your favourite establishment, with the addition of a social historian and author on the history, culture and traditions of everyone’s best-loved celebratory meal?
World of Afternoon Tea loves to make a private birthday, anniversary or retirement party become something very special and memorable. Whether for a few nearest and dearest around a dining room table or a full-on beano in a large external venue, we offer wonderful memories and a special kind of magic for your celebration.
The talk will cover the history of tea drinking as well as many aspects of our favourite meal of the day – afternoon tea. It can be tailored to special interests and requirements, for example tea etiquette, Jane Austen and tea drinking, the Gilded Age in America.
The talk can be given in person or via Zoom. Please note: World of Afternoon Tea does not supply the afternoon tea for your event, only the speaker, props, and slideshow presentation.

In order to be as transparent as possible, World of Afternoon Tea lists a lowest and top price depending on the nature and size of the event. Prices are based on a 30 – 60 minute lecture (usually 45 minutes), plus Q&A, with slide show presentation wherever possible.
Prices in USD and CAD include a small increment for international transactions. They do not include travel costs and disbursements, to be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Did you know? Birthday parties date back to pagan times, when people believed that a person was more vulnerable to the anger of the gods when they experienced a change in their life, such as growing one year older. To help protect that person, family and friends would gather around and make lots of noise (party blowers!) and even light beacons and fires to send messages and wishes to ward off the gods’ anger (birthday cake candles!).
